Debate At Capitol Over Daylight Saving Versus Standard Time

A bill moving forward in the Minnesota Senate would keep the state on standard time all year round. The original plan was to go on daylight saving time year-round, but Congress would have to authorize that and Big Lake Senator Mary Kiffmeyer argues it's better not to "fall back" then "spring ahead". Elbow Lake Senator Torrey Westrom says it would be better to push Congress to allow states to go on daylight saving time year-round, instead of forcing everyone into the shorter day scenario. Other proponents of standard time year-round say it keeps kids out of the early morning darkness at the bus stops on short winter Minnesota days.
