The Minnesota State Patrol says the driver of a semi-truck who struck a power pole in Fergus Falls was possibly suffering a medical emergency and died in the crash.
The Patrol says the driver, now identified as 62 year old Samuel M. Hoffhein of Rhinelander, Wisconsin was travelling eastbound in a 2007 Kenworth Semi-truck, and possibly suffered a medical emergency before running off the road to the right and struck a power pole at the intersection of North Tower Road and West Lincoln Avenue.
Around 2,000 customers lost power for almost two hours as a result of the accident.
Ottertail Power crews were still on scene Friday morning replacing the pole located near Westridge Mall.
The State Patrol says Hoffhein was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
