The Fergus Falls City Council is considering giving its members and the mayor a raise in compensation that would go into effect in 2019.
Alderman Jim Fish says council members haven’t had a raise since 2007…
Fish is proposing that council salaries, currently at $650 per month, be raised to $800 per month. He proposes the mayor salary be raised from the current $1,075 per month to $1,300 per month. And Fish would like the city’s finance department to look into how much it would cost to provide life insurance.
Fish says while other city staff receive yearly raises, the council and mayor have not seen one, even though council members are doing much more work than in 2007.
