Minnesota's Governor Tim Walz delivered his first State of the State address Wednesday night. He stressed the importance of funding education, extending low-cost health insurance coverage to people in need and making improvements to the Minnesota transportation system. Fergus Falls Mayor Ben Schierer was a guest of Governor Walz and was mentioned in the address.

As part of Minnesota Mayors Together, Walz said Schierer has worked to break down divides between rural and urban cities and towns. Mayor Schierer serves on the Board of Directors for the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities. The Governor shared his story to highlight the benefits of investing in local communities in Greater Minnesota.

The address lasted a little over 30 minutes and it ended with a call to avoid getting caught up in a partisan gridlock.
