An Arizona man made his first court appearance Friday on charges related to a traffic crash June 14th south of Fergus Falls.
Authorities were called to the 17,000 block of County Highway 25 just before 5am that day on a report that a vehicle had damaged a mailbox and crashed, and that the driver was acting strangely.
The driver, 25-year-old Jacob Antonio Jacobo of Surprise, Arizona, was southbound when he ran off the road into the ditch, jumped a field approach, rolled, and flipped. A preliminary breath test allegedly showed that Jacobo was legally drunk. But a court complaint states authorities got a search warrant for a blood draw to look for illegal substances in his blood. He allegedly had a number of pills but no prescription for them.
Bond was set at $5,000. Bail was set at $500. Jacobo was ordered to sign a waiver of extradition. His next appearance will be June 26th.
