A Ponemah man is pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the January death of his wife on the Red Lake Indian Reservation.
Federal prosecutors say 38-year-old Jeremiah Kingbird admitted to hitting his wife in the head and strangling her in a car before leaving her on Highway 1. Deputies found her lying face down in the snow with severe head and neck injuries and she died at the Red Lake Hospital.
The victim's blood was found on the passenger window of Kingbird's vehicle. His sentencing hearing hasn't been scheduled.
