(MNN) A sea of orange will blanket Minnesota tomorrow for the opening of the 2019 firearms deer hunting season on Saturday.
D-N-R big game program leader Barb Keller says we have we have roughly 475-thousand firearms hunters in the state. Keller says deer hunting is a big business that generates a half-billion dollars to Minnesota's economy.
The outlook for this year is very good with populations levels high across most of the state. Governor Tim Walz is in Fergus Falls for the 17th annual Governor's Deer Hunting Opener.
There are programs and events today before Walz heads into the woods Saturday morning.
