While it may sound mildly humorous to some, a resident living Northeast of Fergus Falls near Heilberger Lake isn’t laughing about goats trespassing on his property. The rural resident contacted the Otter County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday around 9am about goats that were loose in his yard damaging his trees, and told deputies that it was an ongoing issue with a neighboring property. When deputies arrived they observed goat tracks from the suspect’s yard going to the resident’s yard in fresh snow. Photos were also taken of damage to evergreen trees on the property. The owner of the goats was issued a citation for permitting a public nuisance. The Sheriff’s Office also noted that there had been multiple calls and complaints regarding the same situation previously.
