Governor Tim Walz tells reporters the reason nobody is commenting on budget negotiations right now is that they are at a "really important time."
State leaders have been burning the midnight oil trying to reach an agreement on a two-year spending plan.
Walz and the Democratic majority in the Minnesota House want to raise the gas tax and maintain a health care tax which is set to expire at the end of the year.
Republicans say a projected one-billion-dollar budget surplus means there is no need for higher taxes.
