The pilot of a small plane is safe after making an emergency landing in Clay County Friday.

The pilot started having engine trouble while flying to the North Dakota Air National Guard in North Fargo. He called dispatch, but the rescue was cancelled when the craft landed on a dirt road northeast of Fargo's Hector International Airport, near Highway 75 in Minnesota.

A medic drove to the plane and confirmed the pilot was fine.
