Snowmobiler Killed In Crash Near Menahga

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating after a snowmobile driver was killed in a crash with a car Wednesday morning. Troopers say the crash occurred just after 7 A-M on Highway 71 south Menahga in Wadena County. Investigators say the snowmobiler was traveling southbound in the ditch on the northbound side of Highway 71 when the rider tried to climb the ditch to get on the shoulder. The snowmobiler ended up going into the northbound lane and was struck by a vehicle. State Patrol officials say the snowmobiler, identified as 46-year-old Jesse Jones of Menahga, was killed in the crash. He was wearing a helmet. Officers say the driver of the car was not injured in the incident. Investigators say road conditions were dry at the time of the crash and alcohol is not believed to be factor.
