A 27-year-old Fergus Falls man is jailed following an armed standoff with police Saturday afternoon.
Police were called to a residence in the 700 block of North Vine Street at 3:45 pm. An occupant of the home, Theodore James Tiede, was reportedly intoxicated and threatened another resident in the home with a gun.
Officers set up a perimeter around the home after it was learned Tiede was barricading doors inside the home and had several firearms. Officers made phone contact with Tiede in an attempt to have him exit the home and surrender. During the negotiations, Tiede allegedly fired several rounds from the house. Eventually, Tiede exited the home and surrendered to officers.
Tiede was not injured. No officers or citizens were injured. All officers on scene showed a great deal of restraint, and no rounds were fired by police. The investigation is ongoing.
Fergus Falls Police were assisted by the Otter Tail, Grant, and Wilkin County Sheriff’s Offices and the Minnesota State Patrol.
