Fergus Falls will light up on Saturday by becoming a holiday destination with the annual Over the River Holiday Festival.
The Fergus Falls Downtown Riverfront Council, along with other organizations, including the City of Fergus Falls, Kaddatz Galleries, Springboard for the Arts, and various small businesses have come together to plan another spectacular holiday event.
The event kicks off with Santa flying into the local airport. Everyone is invited to the airport at 10:30 am to watch Santa land and get a few pictures before he heads downtown to pick up his reindeer. Downtown retailers will offer a host of special sales and events, too. The event offers an array of activities including free horse-drawn carriage rides, an art crawl at Kaddatz Galleries & Springboard for the Arts as well as the Art & Artisan Market in Lincoln Center. Fergus Brewing Co. is hosting an outdoor beer garden complete with food vendors, games and bonfires.
Additionally, find live music performances at Lincoln Center between 12-2 pm and at City Hall from 3-5 pm. Deck the Paws – Pet Pawrade will take place at 2:30 pm on Court St. Dress your pets in holiday costumes, show them off for a chance to win prizes from Canine Acres, Country Store and Companion Animal Hospital. Selfies with Santa and other children’s activities begin at 2 pm at City Hall along with a special Otter Cove reindeer-themed event, complete with real reindeer from 3-5 pm. The event will culminate with the tree lighting and fireworks display at Wright Park at 6:30 p.m.
Mayor Ben Schierer says, “This is one of my favorite nights of the year, when our community comes together to sing and share fellowship with their neighbors as we celebrate the season together.”
The Over the River Holiday Festival is completely funded by local sponsorships. Businesses and individuals, large and small, have pledged donations to this spirited community event. For a complete schedule of events and details please visit www.ffriver.org/over
