Shortly before 8 Tuesday night the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s department responded to a report of a fire on 510th Avenue, rural Perham.
The responding deputy found that the owner of property intentionally set the small barn on fire. The owner stated the old small barn collapsed do to the weight of snow. And the collapsed building was a hazard for his children that play near it.
The Sheriff’s Department reminds the public, before they do a controlled burn please contact the local fire department and see if they need a permit. And to also let dispatch know of the controlled burn.
The homeowner was educated on the proper process.
