The Becker County Sheriff's Office is investigating the report of a man posing as a law enforcement officer Monday night on a rural road in Cuba Township.
Sheriff Todd Glander says just after 6:50 on Monday night, a female reported she was driving north on County Highway 7, north of Lake Park, when a vehicle ahead of her activated blue and white lights on the rear window of the vehicle. The female, thinking she was being pulled over by law enforcement, pulled over in front of the vehicle.
A male approached the driver's side of the vehicle and told the female she had a broken taillight. He asked for her ID and asked her to step out of the vehicle to look at the broken light. The female thought the man did not look like an officer and did not get out of the vehicle and asked if she could see his law enforcement credentials.
The male returned to his vehicle and left the scene. The vehicle was described as a newer white Jeep. The man is described as 25-30 years old, around 6-feet tall, with a goatee beard, and was wearing a black winter hat, dark jacket with what appeared to be a radio microphone on the lapel of the jacket.
The sheriff asks for any information on the man's identification or anyone who has had a similar incident to contact the Becker County Sheriff's Office.
Also, if you feel you are being stopped by someone who is not a law enforcement officer, call 9-1-1 immediately to report the incident.
