(MNN) -- Clay County Sheriff Mark Empting doesn't want the George Floyd murder trial moved from Minneapolis to Moorhead.
Empting says he doesn't have the staff to handle the number of people and protesters who might attend the proceedings.
He points out that there's an elementary school across the street from the courthouse. Dakota and Stearns counties are other possible locations if the Hennepin County judge approves a change of venue request.
Sheriff Empting predicts the trial of the four ex-Minneapolis police officers is going to be a "national media circus."
