(KNSI) - The Minnesota State Patrol says 29-year-old Devan Dejon Wilson was arrested without incident at around 6:30 Thursday evening near Sagatagan Lake on the campus of St. John’s University.
According to a post from the Minnesota State Patrol, police began looking for Wilson about 7:30 Thursday morning after allegedly assaulting a state trooper during a traffic stop before fleeing and disappearing for several hours. The trooper had pulled Wilson over for suspected DWI. During the stop, police say Wilson punched the state trooper, fracturing the officer's jaw several times. The trooper will recover, but police say he will need surgery. That will happen Friday.
Officials say Wilson was arrested without incident and was taken to St. Cloud hospital for observation and will be booked into the Stearns County Jail when released.
The campus of St. John's University was locked down while the search was on. Officers from 16 area law enforcement agencies and three tactical teams helped in the search for Wilson.
