A rural Wadena woman was the victim of a scam allegedly involving Direct TV.
The woman reported last Thursday she received a call from an individual who claimed to be from Direct TV, offering an upgrade package. The woman gave the caller her credit card information.
The next day she discovered that it wasn’t Direct TV that had called her. She immediately contacted her credit card company and there hadn’t been any new charges yet. She was able cancel her card number.
The Ottertail County Sherriff’s office wants the public to be aware of the scam and to please use common sense when giving out personal information.
