(MNN) A move by the Trump Administration could start the review of the proposed Twin Metals copper-nickel mine near the Boundary Waters.
The U-S Bureau of Land Management published a "Notice of Intent" Monday in the Federal Registry to begin reviewing the project. Tom Landweher of the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters claims the B-L-M, "ignored citizens, canceled critical studies, and suppressed important science, all with the goal of handing over America’s most popular Wilderness to be exploited for the benefit of a Chilean multinational mining company."
Supporters of Twin Metals deny the mine would pollute waters in the area and will create more than 750 jobs.
