Florida Cop Gets Probation for Shooting Minnesota Woman in Citizens Academy

A former Florida police officer will serve probation and no prison time for mistakenly shooting and killing a retired Minnesota school librarian.
Thirty-one-year-old Lee Coel pleaded no contest to second-degree manslaughter in the death of 73-year-old Mary Knowlton of Prior Lake.
The shooting happened during a citizens academy exercise more than three years ago in Punta Gorda, Florida.
