A silver carp captured on the St. Croix River in Minnesota now has small tracking device implanted in it.
The D-N-R says this is the first time it has tagged the invasive species that competes with native fish for food.
Conservation officers say the tagged carp will provide valuable data on the movement and habits of the invasive fish in the river system.
D-N-R staff and a commercial fishing business were trying to net a tagged bighead carp Tuesday when they captured the silver carp near in the I-94 bridge over the river.
