Minnesota Senate Approves Legislative Schedule for Bill

(MNN) The Minnesota Senate agreed yesterday to an aggressive schedule stating that all bills, to remain alive, must pass out of all required committees before the Passover/Easter break.
But Rochester Republican Carla Nelson says it's not enough to ensure the legislature gets its work done on time, "because Minnesotans expect that there be real negotiations... done in the light of day, not in the dark of night."
Nelson says she'll propose additional deadlines for agreement on spending bills.
Legislative leaders set such deadlines last year with only limited success.
A short special session was still needed to wrap up the state budget.
