Minnesota lawmakers will be asked to approve 30-million dollars for new rail service between the Twin Cities metro and Duluth, plus additional service to Chicago.
Similar funding requests for passenger rail projects haven’t made it through the Legislature in the past.
This time, the effort will be focused on the legislative session starting in February.
Backers say the effort to reestablish an Amtrak route between the Twin Cities and Duluth is in the final stages.
