(MNN) Private sources have raised more than 12-thousand dollars so students who haven’t paid their lunch debt won’t have to eat an alternative meal.
Staff members at Richfield High School reportedly threw away more than 40 hot lunches Monday when students had outstanding debts of more than 15 dollars.
District administrators have ended the policy.
A GoFundMe account called “Pay for Trays” has also been created with a goal of 20-thousand dollars.
As of Thursday, almost two-thousand had been raised.
