Total consumer spending for Valentines Day Expected To Top 27-billion dollars

(MNN) Today is Valentine's Day.
The National Retail Federation estimates that total consumer spending for the holiday is expected to top 27-billion dollars.
Jewelry, a night out on the town, clothing, candy and flowers are among the top gifts to give this year.
The NRF estimates that more than two-billion dollars will be spent on flowers for loved ones. Naturally, roses are the most popular Valentine's Day flowers as more than 250-million are produced for the holiday alone. Additionally, more than 36 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolates are sold across the country.
Approximately one billion Valentine's Day cards are sent each year.
