The Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa has rejected a 24-million dollar settlement offer from Enbridge Energy.
The Native American tribe wants that company to shut down and remove its oil pipeline from reservation lands.
The pipeline carries from than a half-million barrels of oil and natural gas liquids each day between Superior, Wisconsin and Sarnia, Ontario.
The offer included a two million dollar annual payment until the pipeline is no longer operating on the tribe’s land.
