(MNN) -- The University of Minnesota Athletic Department is giving students November 3rd off.
The Gophers will not have any athletic-related activities on Election Day to give students more time and flexibility to head to the polls.
Athletics Director Mark Coyle said, "voting is a fundamental human right, and we encourage our student-athletes to exercise that right on Election Day."
The U of M Twin Cities campus won the state, Big Ten, and national championship in voter turnout in 2018 with 58-point-seven percent of the student body voting.
