West Central Area sophomore Lexi Bright is the Quality Toyota - Leighton Broadcasting Athlete of the Week.
Bright led the Knights to a pair of wins last week as they beat Brandon-Evansville 61-55 on Tuesday night and then beat Hancock 67-49 on Friday night.
Against the Chargers, Bright scored 24 points, pulled down 5 rebounds, came up with 3 steals and dished out one assist. In the win over the Owls, Lexi scored 36 points, had 7 steals, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocked shots.
She also started this week by reaching 1,000 career points and 250 career steals in the Knights 74-43 win over Ashby on Tuesday night.
This season she is averaging 19.23 points per game, 4.46 rebounds per game, 3.69 steals per game, 2.69 assists per game and 0.92 blocks per game, a very impressive season stat line.
“To sum up what Lexi Bright means as a player and a teammate is hard to condense into a few words,” said WCA Head Girls Basketball Coach Eric Schoenbauer. “She is relentless in her pursuit of improvement, she is humble and honest, and she will always go the extra mile to do what it takes to be successful.”
Bright is also a member of the outstanding West Central Area girls’ cross country team. She has participated in four consecutive state cross country meets.
